Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Operations & Purchasing Manager to oversee day-to-day operational functions and lead all aspects of purchasing and supply chain for our over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical product lines. This role is critical in ensuring optimal inventory levels, strong vendor partnerships, and efficient operational workflows that support business growth and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management
- Oversee and streamline daily operational activities including manufacturing coordination, logistics, warehousing, and order fulfillment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Regulatory, Sales, Marketing) to ensure smooth product lifecycle management.
- Implement and monitor KPIs to track operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, cGMP, and other regulatory requirements applicable to OTC pharmaceutical operations.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance profitability.
Purchasing & Supply Chain
- Develop and manage purchasing strategies aligned with sales forecasts, seasonal trends, and market demand for OTC pharmaceutical products.
- Conduct demand planning and inventory forecasting to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory and obsolescence.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers, both domestic and international, to secure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and monitor their performance.
- Manage purchase orders, contracts, and procurement documentation in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field. MBA or relevant certification (e.g., APICS, CPIM) is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in operations and/or procurement within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or CPG industries (OTC preferred).
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply chain dynamics, including regulatory compliance.
- Proficient in ERP systems, demand planning tools, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience working with contract manufacturers (CMOs) and third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
- Familiarity with FDA regulations governing OTC products.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
