We are seeking a detail oriented, experienced Bookkeeper / Accountant to take a lead role in managing the financial operations of a nonprofit organization. This position will oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, month end close, financial statement preparation, and all documentation needed for the annual audit and 990 reporting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, reliable, and experienced in nonprofit accounting or similar environments where accuracy and compliance are essential.

This is a full time, in office role for someone who can take ownership of the organization’s financial processes and maintain strong internal controls.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports
  • Manage general ledger and ensure accurate month end close
  • Coordinate annual audit preparation and 990 documentation
  • Reconcile accounts, review transactions, and maintain accurate financial records
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting as needed
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting a plus (not required)
  • CPA license preferred but not required
  • Strong knowledge of AP, AR, financial statements, and audit preparation
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Full time and in office availability required


Location: Brooklyn, NY (In-office only)

Type: Full time

Salary: $75,000–$125,000/year
