Maintenance Technician I
Location: Chandler, AZ
Shift: 3rd Shift
Type: Temp-to-Hire (with growth opportunities)
We are seeking a 3rd Shift General Mechanic to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Chandler, AZ. This is a hands-on role supporting maintenance, repair, and improvement of equipment and facilities in a manufacturing environment.
Schedule Requirements
- Must be willing to work a fixed schedule (8- or 12-hour shifts)
- May be required to work evenings, nights, holidays, and overtime
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, install, repair, modify, and maintain machines, equipment, structures, and facilities
Materials You’ll Work With
- Machine parts, metal stock, pins, tubing, fittings, mechanical hardware
- Compressed gases, oil, grease, paint, acids
- Fiber optics and specialty metals
Tools & Equipment Used
- Millwright, pipefitter, welder, layout, rigger, and blacksmith tools
- (drill press, saws, abrasive cutoff wheel, grinders, shears)
- Pipe fitting equipment
- Welding and burning equipment
- Hoists and cranes
- Non-destructive testing equipment
- Personal computer and PLC terminals
Basic Qualifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)
- Must meet requirements for access to controlled technology (ITAR / Export Regulations)
- Must pass:
- Online and hands-on skills testing
- Physical exam
- Drug screen
- Background check
- Minimum 5 years Journeyman-level experience or equivalent maintaining heavy equipment
- Working knowledge of:
- Welding
- Machine repair
- Millwright work
- Hydraulics
- Sheet metal
- Pipe fitting
- Blueprint reading
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved apprenticeship program or formal technical training beyond high school
- Journeyman’s card (Department of Labor Certificate or equivalent)
- Must pass testing and skills demonstration
- Permanent employment subject to a probation period (up to 6 months)
- If currently working as a general mechanic, proof of experience and/or Journeyman’s card required
