Maintenance Technician I

Location: Chandler, AZ

Shift: 3rd Shift

Type: Temp-to-Hire (with growth opportunities)

We are seeking a 3rd Shift General Mechanic to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Chandler, AZ. This is a hands-on role supporting maintenance, repair, and improvement of equipment and facilities in a manufacturing environment.

Schedule Requirements

  • Must be willing to work a fixed schedule (8- or 12-hour shifts)
  • May be required to work evenings, nights, holidays, and overtime

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, install, repair, modify, and maintain machines, equipment, structures, and facilities

Materials You’ll Work With

  • Machine parts, metal stock, pins, tubing, fittings, mechanical hardware
  • Compressed gases, oil, grease, paint, acids
  • Fiber optics and specialty metals

Tools & Equipment Used

  • Millwright, pipefitter, welder, layout, rigger, and blacksmith tools
  • (drill press, saws, abrasive cutoff wheel, grinders, shears)
  • Pipe fitting equipment
  • Welding and burning equipment
  • Hoists and cranes
  • Non-destructive testing equipment
  • Personal computer and PLC terminals

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)
  • Must meet requirements for access to controlled technology (ITAR / Export Regulations)
  • Must pass:
  • Online and hands-on skills testing
  • Physical exam
  • Drug screen
  • Background check
  • Minimum 5 years Journeyman-level experience or equivalent maintaining heavy equipment
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Welding
  • Machine repair
  • Millwright work
  • Hydraulics
  • Sheet metal
  • Pipe fitting
  • Blueprint reading

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved apprenticeship program or formal technical training beyond high school
  • Journeyman’s card (Department of Labor Certificate or equivalent)
  • Must pass testing and skills demonstration
  • Permanent employment subject to a probation period (up to 6 months)
  • If currently working as a general mechanic, proof of experience and/or Journeyman’s card required
