Job Title: Technician II
Temp to hire position
$30-34 per hour
1st Shift
Responsibilities
- Perform chemical, electrochemical, and mechanical surface finishing processes at both bench and pilot scale.
- Safely prepare, handle, and transfer chemicals, including acids and bases.
- Evaluate performance of surface treatments and coatings.
- Gather, interpret, and organize experimental results to support process development and technical assessments.
- Provide technical support and input to project managers, engineers, and supervisors.
- Support the creation and revision of SOPs and Work Instructions when needed.
- Prepare and assess bonding samples used for automotive and aerospace qualification and development.
- Carry out surface and coating activities such as batch treatments, surface tension testing, and bench-top coating applications.
- Travel to company or customer facilities as required to assist with implementation or troubleshooting.
- Communicate project progress through both verbal updates and written reports.
Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with chemical handling practices, laboratory testing, and data organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for data reporting and presentation.
- Strong attention to detail in daily tasks.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with chemicals, coatings, adhesives, or surface treatments—particularly involving metallic materials.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Background in metals manufacturing, preferably involving aluminum.
- Experience using statistical/data analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of process scale-up from laboratory environments to production settings.
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals related to aluminum processing, including casting, rolling, extrusion, and forming operations.
Education:
- Associate of Science (AS) Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other related Science or Engineering discipline.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other related Science or Engineering discipline.
