Role Overview:
We are looking for a strategic, insight-driven Chief Analytics & Finance Officer (CAO/CFO) to take a lead on our financial planning and business intelligence functions. This role is not focused on managing accounting operations—that is handled by an experienced Controller. Instead, the CAO/CFO will own the financial strategy, forecasting, channel analysis, and advanced reporting necessary to uncover inefficiencies, boost profitability, and support long-term growth.
You’ll use data to find what’s working, what’s not, and where we may be leaving money on the table. From understanding margin breakdowns by platform to uncovering hidden refund leakage in marketplaces like Amazon—you’ll help us move from reactive reporting to proactive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
· Build and lead a modern financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function with a strong emphasis on data and profitability.
· Analyze P&L performance across platforms (Amazon, Walmart, eBay, DTC) to understand profitability at every layer—product, channel, and vendor.
· Audit marketplace settlements and claims (e.g. Amazon reimbursements, shipping deductions, return abuse) to identify revenue leakage.
· Partner with operations and fulfillment to analyze shipping costs, refund trends, and chargebacks—and find ways to reduce them.
· Support inventory forecasting by aligning financial planning with sell-through rates and historical data.
· Deliver insights into ad spend ROI and customer acquisition cost (CAC) by platform and campaign.
· Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and multi-scenario modeling to guide company strategy.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
· 4+ years of experience in a senior finance or analytics leadership role, ideally in eCommerce or multichannel retail.
· Proven ability to build and lead financial modeling, forecasting, and BI in a fast-paced environment.
· Deep understanding of eCommerce dynamics including marketplace settlements, returns, fees, and advertising costs.
· Hands-on with tools like Excel, Power BI, Looker, Tableau, or similar analytics platforms.
· ERP experience required; familiarity with NetSuite, SellerCloud, ChannelAdvisor, or similar platforms is a plus.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate data into strategy and influence leadership.
· Detail-oriented, highly analytical, and focused on driving business outcomes—not just reporting numbers.
