Azure Backend Developer – Insurance Industry


  • Location: Hybrid – Antwerp (minimum two days onsite)



The insurance sector is investing heavily in cloud modernization, and we are looking for an experienced Azure Backend Developer (.NET) to support the development of scalable, secure, and cloud-native backend services. You will work on key components powering broker and customer-facing applications within a modern digital architecture.


Role Overview

As an Azure Backend Developer, you will build and maintain backend services using .NET and Azure serverless components. You will collaborate with architects, developers, analysts, and testers to design and implement cloud-native solutions that support high-availability digital platforms in the insurance domain.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain backend services using .NET (C#) and Azure Functions.
  • Implement cloud-native microservices using Azure Container Apps, Service Bus, Event Hub, and Azure Storage.
  • Build and integrate REST and SOAP APIs, ensuring secure communication using OAuth2 and OpenID Connect.
  • Contribute to solution design, technical analysis, and documentation.
  • Improve performance, reliability, and maintainability through refactoring and best practices.
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and collaborate on automated CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams within an Agile environment.

Required Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with .NET (C#) and cloud-native development.
  • Practical experience with Azure Functions, Azure DevOps, Azure Container Apps, Key Vault, Redis Cache, and Azure Storage.
  • Experience with REST APIs, SOAP, and modern API authentication/authorization (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT).
  • Experience with event-driven architectures such as Azure Service Bus or Event Hub.
  • Familiarity with Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, and distributed system design.
  • Knowledge of Terraform or similar IaC tools.
  • Strong understanding of microservices, cloud integration patterns, and CI/CD best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in Agile teams and communicate clearly with technical and functional stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working in the insurance or broader financial services industry.
  • Familiarity with broker portals, policy systems, or claims workflows.
  • Azure certification (such as AZ-204).
