Responsibilities: Nocturnist
- Internal / Family Medicine Physician
- Role: Primarily an admitting-based position, providing admitting services from the ER to the hospital medicine service.
- Schedule: Flexible scheduling, working fifteen (15) 12-hour shifts per month. Typical shifts are 5 PM - 5 AM or 8 PM - 8 AM. Other admitting shifts include 7 AM - 7 PM and 11 AM - 11 PM. Schedule is completed 3 months in advance.
- Patient Focus: Focus on patient care without the need for performing procedures. Our hospitalist program features closed Intensive Care Units , and our team does not admit pediatric patients, pregnant patients over 20 weeks gestation, fresh post-op, trauma, or ICU patients to our service.
- Work Environment: Join a team that values collaboration and professional growth. Expect a supportive work environment with access to ongoing educational opportunities and leadership support. Cross-coverage for the whole team at night is managed using secure chat via EPIC.
- Admissions: Admitters generally handle 6-10 admissions per night with the support of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). APPs are on overnight to assist physicians.
- Emergency Response: Admitters respond to code strokes and blues. One code blue, stroke, or REACH call counts as an admit in the round robin system.
- EMR: We utilize EPIC as our EMR system.
Qualifications: Nocturnist
- MD or DO degree
- Board certification/Board Eligible in Internal or Family Medicine
- Strong clinical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work nights and weekends
