Graduate Structural Engineer - Manchester
Vertical Recruitment are working closely with a leading multidiscipline Civil and structural Consultancy. Due to an increase in the demand for their expertise, we have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Structural Engineer to join their experienced Civil & Structural Engineering discipline which includes over 100 structural & civil engineers in 7 UK offices.
Based at their dynamic and thriving Manchester offices with over 80 staff in the heart of the city centre covering a wide range of disciplines in property and construction, you will play an important role in strengthening their Structural Engineering team not only within the Manchester office but throughout the entire structures discipline within their consultancy.
You will also have the ability to assist the team on projects with an enviable client base; their team is currently delivering projects with over £200m in contract value for automotive and aerospace manufacturers, schools/universities, contractors and developers both in the UK and internationally.
They're involved with high profile projects including high-rise residential and commercial developments.
As a Graduate Structural Engineer you will be responsible for assisting in the provision of a wide range of structural engineering services.
Role and Responsibilities
- Prepare outline designs for structural schemes based on the client's brief
- Carry out detailed design calculations to Eurocodes using the latest 3D design software
- Co-ordinate your designs with other design disciplines and specialists with BIM
- Assist with the production of detailed design drawings and specifications for tender purposes
- Visit site during the construction phase to monitor on-site progress
- Carry out structural surveys of existing buildings and advise on any issues that may arise
- Analyse and report on structural defects in existing buildings and structures
- Check outgoing and incoming documents, including Contractor's proposal documentation
To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate / possess:
- Be a graduate with a good degree in structural or civil engineering
- 1-2 years experience as a Graduate Structural Engineer
- A good understanding of the basic regulatory requirements including Eurocodes.
- Proficiency in use of AutoCAD or Revit at a drawing/design level
